Wirraka Maya Health Service has been delivering culturally appropriate, holistic primary health care in South Hedland and surrounding Pilbara communities for more than 30 years. Our multidisciplinary services are focused on improving health and wellbeing through accessible, culturally safe and community-centred care.

 About the Role

We are looking for a caring and motivated Support Worker to join our National Psychosocial Support Measure (NPSM) Program. The program provides short-term, practical support to people living with severe mental health challenges who are not currently receiving support through the NDIS or other state and territory programs. This is a full-time position suited to someone who is compassionate, respectful and enjoys supporting people to achieve their goals.

Responsibilities of the role:

As a Support Worker, you will provide person-centred, recovery-focused psychosocial support to help people:

• Provide person-centred, recovery-focused support that builds independence, confidence and wellbeing.
• Assist clients with daily living, personal care, appointments and access to community services and activities.
• Support clients to achieve their individual care, recovery and wellbeing goals.
• Build positive relationships with clients, families, service providers and other professionals.
• Monitor client progress and maintain accurate case notes, records and reporting.
• Work in line with care plans, organisational policies and professional standards, and participate in ongoing training.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

What is needed for the role:

• Previous experience in a similar role
• Strong communication and relationship building skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Empathy and genuine desire to help others
• Basic to intermediate computer skills
• Good written skills, with the ability to complete clear and accurate case notes and records.
• Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people 
• Ability to follow organisational policies and procedures, with a strong focus on Work Health and Safety

Licences, Clearances and/or Certificates Required

• Basic first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• A valid driver’s licence (Western Australia)
• National Police Clearance (less than 6 months old)
• Working with Children Clearance (Western Australia)
• A relevant qualification in health and social care (e.g., Certificate III in Individual Support).
