About us

The Justice Officer is a position in Corrections and Justice Services within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS), Northwest Metropolitan Area (NWMA).

Located across the NWMA are fourteen non-custodial locations in the Melbourne CBD, Broadmeadows, Coolaroo, Reservoir, South Morang, Melton, Sunshine, Werribee, Derrimut, Laverton, Tullamarine and Epping, plus the Neighbourhood Justice Centre in Collingwood, and the Court Services Unit at the Melbourne Magistrates Court. There are four Youth Justice office locations in Broadmeadows, Reservoir, Werribee and Sunshine.

What you will do

As justice officer, you will provide administration and client services across justice locations.

You will support local programs and help people access clear, timely information.

You will:

• provide helpful information and process applications for clients, staff and the public.
• greet clients, answer questions and give accurate advice about justice services.
• provide efficient administrative support for community corrections, sheriff operations and other regional programs.
• manage data, mail and records while preparing clear correspondence and reports.
• support other justice locations, improve local services and help with community activities when needed.

About you

No mandatory qualification is listed for this role. Advanced computer skills are desirable, including word processing, spreadsheets, email and appointment systems.

You should also have:

• strong computer skills and confidence using different systems, records and office tools.
• clear communication skills to help people and handle difficult conversations with care.
• teamwork skills and the ability to support others while meeting shared goals.
• resilience and flexibility to manage change, pressure and different client needs.
