Queensland Rail is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Design Drafter to lead structural drafting activities across a diverse portfolio of rail and infrastructure projects.

About the role

Our Structural and Civil Engineering team is responsible for delivering infrastructure solutions that help keep Queensland moving. Working in a multidisciplinary environment, you'll partner with Structural, Civil and Geotechnical professionals on a wide variety of projects.

As the primary drafting lead for our Structural team, you'll combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership, mentorship and quality assurance responsibilities.  More about key responsibilities include:

• Producing and reviewing high-quality structural drawings and documentation using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Leading drafting activities across multiple projects from concept through to construction.
• Leadership through mentoring and supporting drafters and designers within the team.
• Coordinating with structural, civil and geotechnical engineers to deliver integrated project outcomes.
• Managing drawing revisions, technical reviews and quality assurance processes.
• Contributing to drafting standards, workflow improvements and continuous improvements.

About you

We're looking for a collaborative and technically capable structural design drafting professional who brings:

• Significant experience in structural drafting within infrastructure, engineering consulting or a related environment.
• Advanced AutoCAD and12D skills, with MicroStation experience highly regarded.
• Experience in day to day leading, mentoring or coordinating drafting teams.
• Strong knowledge of structural detailing, engineering documentation and constructability principles.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams collaboratively.
• A proactive mindset with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement.

We invite you to highlight any experience in:

• Rail or heavy infrastructure projects.
• Bridges, buildings or transport infrastructure projects.
• Exposure to BIM workflows and Revit.
• Strong familiarity with drafting standards and project delivery requirements, including knowledge of Queensland Rail frameworks.
• Demonstrated drafting systems improvement initiative involvement. 
    

Formal qualifications 
 

• At minimum hold an Associate Degree of Engineering Civil.
• Current un-restricted Drivers Licence
