About the role
Astrea Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Survey Manager to join our team on a full-time basis at our Brendale, Queensland office. This is a pivotal leadership position within our surveying division, where you will oversee survey operations, manage team performance, and ensure the delivery of high-quality surveying services to our clients. The Survey Manager plays a critical role in maintaining our reputation for excellence whilst driving operational efficiency and business growth across our surveying practice.
Key responsibilities
Manage and supervise surveying teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of survey projects
Oversee the planning, coordination and execution of surveying operations across multiple projects
Ensure compliance with relevant surveying standards, codes of practice and industry regulations
Review and quality-assure survey reports, drawings and deliverables before client submission
Maintain and manage relationships with key clients, addressing queries and ensuring satisfaction
Monitor project budgets, timelines and resource allocation to optimise profitability
Recruit, train, mentor and develop surveying staff to build a high-performing team
Liaise with other departments and external stakeholders to support project delivery
Contribute to business development and tendering activities for new survey contracts
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of surveying technology, methodologies and industry best practices
What we're looking for
Professional surveyor qualification (Licensed Surveyor or equivalent recognised qualification)
Minimum 7-10 years' experience in surveying, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role
Demonstrated expertise in various survey types including cadastral, engineering, construction and/or mining surveys
Strong technical knowledge of surveying equipment, software and methodologies
Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
Proven track record in project management, including budgeting and resource planning
Proficiency in relevant surveying software and CAD programs
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively across all levels
Problem-solving capability and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and regulations within the surveying and construction industries
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required
