WORKSHOP LABOURERS & SKILLED OPERATORS – STRUCTURAL STEEL

We are currently seeking reliable, hardworking and experienced workshop personnel to join a busy structural steel and heavy engineering workshop.

We have opportunities for experienced Sandblasters, Press Brake/Folding Operators, Trade Assistants and Workshop Labourers. We are looking for hands-on people who are willing to learn, work safely and efficiently, and are prepared to contribute across different areas of the workshop.

What we're looking for

• Current forklift licence – mandatory, with confidence operating a forklift daily.
• Previous experience in a steel, structural steel or heavy engineering workshop.
• Willingness to be cross-trained across various machinery, including bandsaws, guillotines and press brakes.
• Confident using grinders, magnetic drills and general workshop hand and power tools.
• Basic computer skills, including completing digital forms, job records and production documentation.
• Ability to read basic fabrication drawings and use a tape measure and basic measuring equipment.
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling structural steel.
• Reliable, punctual and committed to working as part of a production team.
• Strong work ethic, good attitude and willingness to learn.

Experience in the following areas will be highly regarded

Abrasive Blasting / Sandblasting

• Hands-on experience abrasive blasting structural steel.
• Previous structural steel industry experience.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a production environment.

Press Brake / Folding

• Proven experience operating press brake/folding machinery for sheet and plate.
• Ability to set up tooling and work accurately to specifications.
• Understanding of bend allowances and working to tight tolerances.
• Guillotine/shearing experience highly regarded.

Trade Assistant / Workshop Labouring

• Experience assisting boilermakers and welders with fit-up, material handling and general workshop duties.
• Experience around CNC plasma or tube-cutting machinery highly regarded.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new machinery.
• Previous steel or heavy engineering workshop experience preferred.

The Right Attitude Matters

These are hands-on workshop roles where flexibility is essential.

Your primary skill area may be blasting, folding, trade assisting or general labouring, but you will also be expected to assist in other areas of the workshop when required. When your main area is quiet, you will be expected to get involved, keep busy and help keep production moving.

We are looking for people who are reliable, flexible, hands-on and keen to learn — not someone who only wants to perform one task.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday: 6:00am – 4:30pm

Saturday: 6:00am – 2:00pm
