The opportunity

A well established Australian technology business operating in the B2B supply chain and electronic document exchange sector is deep into a significant platform transformation and needs an expert who can sit between the business and the development team, make the hard calls, and keep a complex, multi-phase build on track through to completion.

This is a technical product leadership role for someone who has built and shipped real products in integration-heavy environments, and isn't intimidated by code, architecture diagrams, or difficult conversations.

This is a long-term, ongoing role at the heart of continuous product development, with a genuine mandate to transform the EDI environment and the client offering.

What you'll do:

• The build: Milestone accountability without micromanaging; scope, sequencing and resourcing calls backed by clear commercial rationale

• The EDI domain: Trading partner connectivity at a technical level: message standards, VAN architecture, mapping complexity, and what it actually takes to migrate customers off legacy platforms

• The bridge: Translating between what's being built and what the business needs it to deliver, and holding both sides accountable to that connection

• The blind spots: Challenging architecture decisions before they lock in; surfacing integration risk, dependency gaps and technical debt before they become problems

• The scrutiny: Working alongside an experienced architect and a highly capable AI developer, you'll have the depth of technology expertise to read their work critically and enough credibility to push back and be heard

You'll need:

• Genuine hands-on EDI/B2B connectivity experience: X12, EDIFACT, AS2, SFTP, and how trading partner networks really work. This is NOT a domain you're learning on the job.

• A development background: you've written code, reviewed PRs, or led engineering teams at a level that holds up in an architecture review. You are fully conversant in a technical conversation.

• A track record delivering a significant platform build or transformation: accountable for outcomes, not just outputs. You know what a real delivery pan looks like and have managed scope and resourcing decisions under commercial pressure.

• The presence to lead a room of engineers, a GM and board-level stakeholders: direct, clear, and unafraid to say when something's wrong
  

Highly desirable experience:

• Australian healthcare or retail supply chain experience

• PEPPOL e-invoicing / Australian digital procurement knowledge

• GCP, Python, modern cloud-native integration architecture

• Vendor/partner delivery management experience

• Production exposure to AI/ML tooling

• Subscription or usage-based billing model design experience
