Principal AI Engineer

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and build of scalable, secure AI and GenAI solutions, including RAG pipelines, vector search, embeddings, and agentic workflows.
• Define engineering patterns, reusable components, and MLOps practices that accelerate AI delivery.
• Provide hands?on technical leadership across data engineering, model integration, DevOps/MLOps, and legacy system integration.
• Deliver production?ready AI systems aligned with privacy, security, and responsible AI requirements.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders to shape AI strategy, clarify feasibility, and translate complex trade?offs into clear decisions.
• Navigate governance, compliance, and hybrid technology stacks while maintaining delivery momentum.
• Mentor engineers and uplift capability across modern AI engineering, testing, monitoring, and lifecycle management.

What You Bring

• 10+ years in software or data engineering, with 5+ years delivering AI/ML solutions in enterprise environments.
• Proven experience productionising AI systems monitoring, retraining, optimisation, lifecycle management.
• Deep hands?on expertise in:
  • Python and modern agentic AI frameworks
  • Cloud-native architectures (Azure preferred)
  • Data platforms, APIs, integration patterns, data lakes
  • MLOps/AIOps, security, observability, and automation
  • Responsible AI and compliance alignment
• Strong technical leadership with the ability to stay hands?on.
• Experience guiding engineers, uplifting capability, and setting engineering standards.
• Ability to deliver high?impact outcomes in legacy?constrained, regulated environments.
• Bonus: experience with GenAI, RAG, vector databases, embeddings, or education/regulated sectors.
