Event Medics and First Responders – Sydney
Casual | Sydney and NSW
Want to gain real-world patient experience while working at some incredible events across NSW?
Get First Aid is looking for Event Medics and First Responders to join our growing Sydney team.
From sporting events and endurance races to festivals, community events and major events, no two shifts are quite the same.
Whether you’re an experienced clinician or a Paramedicine student looking to build confidence before entering ambulance practice, this is an opportunity to put your skills into practice in the event environment.
Who we’re looking for
We encourage applications from:
Year 2 and above Paramedicine students
Certificate IV in Health Care graduates
Diploma of Emergency Health Care graduates
Those with an equivalent or higher healthcare qualification
Experienced First Responders and healthcare professionals
Your qualifications, experience and competency will determine the clinical role and scope you are appointed to.
Paramedicine students – we want to hear from you!
If you’re Year 2 or above, we encourage you to apply.
We understand there’s a big difference between learning at university and gaining confidence dealing with real patients.
We’re flexible around university and placement commitments and want to give students the opportunity to gain more hands-on patient experience before making the jump into ambulance practice.
Event medical work can help you build confidence in patient communication, observations, assessments, clinical reasoning and documentation while always working within your approved scope.
What you’ll be doing
Depending on your role and the event, you may be:
Providing first aid and event medical care
Assessing and managing patients within your scope
Responding to incidents across event sites
Completing patient care documentation
Communicating with event organisers and emergency services when required
Working independently or as part of a larger medical team
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for people who are reliable, professional, compassionate and confident communicating with patients.
You need to know your scope, recognise your limitations and know when to escalate.
Our GFA values are:
Reliability | Professional Excellence | Compassion in Action | Teamwork and Community
Your application – PLEASE READ
A tailored cover letter is MANDATORY.
Your cover letter must specifically tell us:
How you align with the Get First Aid values
What you will bring to the GFA team
Your qualifications, experience and eligibility
If you’re a Paramedicine student, your current year of study
We don’t want a generic cover letter. We want to know who you are, why you want to join GFA and what you can bring to our team.
Applications without a cover letter will NOT be selected to continue through the recruitment process.
Recruitment process
Step 1: your resume and cover letter
Step 2: Shortlisting
Step 3: Group Interview – including 3 practical scenarios
Step 4: References if required / Offers
The practical scenarios aren’t about expecting you to know everything. We want to see how you communicate, approach a patient, think through a situation and recognise when you need to escalate.
Compliance
Successful applicants will need to provide the relevant documentation for their appointed role, which may include current qualifications, Police Check, WWCC where applicable, evidence of university enrolment and professional registration where required.
Ready to apply?
If you want to gain experience, use your existing skills and work across some fantastic events throughout Sydney and NSW, we’d love to hear from you.
Year 2+ Paramedicine students and those who have completed a Certificate IV in Health Care, Diploma of Emergency Health Care, equivalent or higher qualification are strongly encouraged to apply.
Questions regarding the position, eligibility or recruitment process should be directed to the Get First Aid (GFA)
