About Us
Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service. Servicing the communities of Cape York, with the main office is located in Cairns, Apunipima delivers public health care, and social and emotional well-being care, to community members. Being a part of the team at Apunipima means helping us deliver essential services as well as building capacity in communities to manage their own health care needs.
About the Role
The Support Worker – Breakthrough for Families Program (BFF) provides practical support to individuals and families affected by methamphetamine and other substance use by assisting with education, engagement, outreach, and referral pathways to local services. The role helps increase community access to BFF activities supporting individual and family access to the BFF Counsellor whose focus is on therapeutic, clinical and complex family interventions.
There is a genuine occupational requirement under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), for this position to be filled by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. The position is therefore only open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants to ensure that cultural protocols and customs are met.
