Role Description The Coded Welder is a full-time, on-site role based in Potts Point, NSW, responsible for performing high-quality coded welding in accordance with industry standards, project specifications, and company procedures. Day-to-day activities include preparing and setting up materials, interpreting welding drawings and weld maps, executing various welding processes, and performing visual checks on completed welds to ensure compliance with quality requirements. The role involves working closely with supervisors, inspectors, and engineering teams, maintaining accurate records of welds and procedures, and following established safety protocols at all times. The Coded Welder will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, assist with equipment maintenance, and support training and knowledge sharing within the team.
Qualifications
Coded welding proficiency in relevant processes (e.g., MMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW) with current certifications to applicable Australian or international standards.Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, weld procedures, symbols, and engineering documentation.Experience in structural steel fabrication, naval or heavy engineering environments, and familiarity with quality assurance and inspection requirements.Solid understanding of safety regulations, hazard identification, and safe work practices in workshop and site environments.Attention to detail, reliable workmanship, and the ability to meet production deadlines without compromising quality.Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within diverse teams and multidisciplinary projects.Relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship in welding/metal fabrication; additional certifications in AS/NZS 3834 or DNV standards are highly regarded.Willingness to participate in ongoing training, skills development, and potential defence project security clearances as required.
