Assistant (Principal)

Position Details: 
St Gerard’s Catholic Primary School is a vibrant Kindergarten to Year 6 Catholic primary school in Westminster. Grounded in the Mercy tradition, we are committed to providing a faith-filled, inclusive and high-quality education where every child is known, valued and supported to flourish.
We are seeking an outstanding educator and relational leader to join our Leadership Team as a full-time, ongoing Assistant Principal.
Working closely with the Principal, the successful applicant will provide leadership across Catholic Identity, Education, Community and Stewardship. We are seeking a visible and engaged leader who is passionate about Catholic education, improving student outcomes, developing staff capacity and building strong relationships within our culturally diverse community.
The Assistant Principal will contribute significantly to instructional leadership, curriculum and assessment, student wellbeing, school improvement, community engagement and the effective operation of the school.

Selection Criteria:
•  Commitment to the Catholic faith and capacity to provide visible leadership of the Catholic identity, mission and Mercy charism of St Gerard’s. 
•  Strong knowledge of contemporary pedagogy, curriculum, assessment and evidence-informed practice, with demonstrated capacity to improve teaching and student learning. 
•  Capacity to develop staff through coaching, feedback, collaboration and professional learning while promoting high expectations and shared accountability. 
•  Capacity to lead inclusive practices supporting diverse learners, including students with disability and EAL/D backgrounds, together with student wellbeing and positive behaviour. 
•  Ability to use achievement, engagement and wellbeing data to identify priorities, evaluate impact and lead improvement. 
•  Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to build positive relationships with students, staff, families, parish and community. 
•  Capacity to contribute across the four CEWA leadership domains, including strategic planning, school operations, compliance and whole-school improvement.

Qualifications Required:
-    Current TRBWA registration and a Working with Children Check. 
-    An appropriate tertiary teaching qualification. 
-    A minimum of seven years relevant educational experience. 
-    Accreditation for Leadership of a Catholic School Community, or be working towards relevant CEWA requirements.  
Assistant Principal or substantive school leadership experience is highly desirable.
