About ARRC Gold Coast 

The Advanced Resource Recovery Centre, or ARRC, is transforming how the Gold Coast manages its waste and turns it into value.  

Owned by the City of Gold Coast, this $1.6 billion precinct is set to become one of the world’s first planned waste and energy precincts – providing Gold Coast residents a new value-for-money and environmentally responsible way to manage our region’s waste. It will also divert up to 97% of the waste currently sent to landfill.   

Progressively rolling out during the next six years, our initial focus is three integrated but distinct facilities – ARRC Organics, ARRC Recycling and ARRC Energy. The three facilities will process the waste from your green, yellow, and red bins, respectively. In fact, ARRC Organics in Yatala is already doing just that.  

ARRC is also developing a circular economy innovation park (ARRC Innovation) and community hub (ARRC Hub) as well as looking at opportunities to decarbonise the City’s vehicles through ARRC Hydrogen.   

Creating jobs for more than 2,000 people during construction and 350 people during operation, ARRC is being designed from the ground up to achieve the very best circular economy outcomes for our region.  

The Opportunity  

This is a broad, hands-on opportunity for a Corporate Accountant who wants exposure across the full corporate finance function. You will support month-end and year-end reporting, budgets and rolling forecasts, statutory and funding requirements, audit preparation, financial controls and consolidated reporting across ARRC and its subsidiaries. 

The role offers a genuine development pathway for an accountant progressing toward, or recently completing, CPA or CA membership. You will work closely with the Finance Manager, build strong relationships with budget owners and external providers, and develop the organisational knowledge needed to provide reliable Finance Manager coverage during planned or short-term absences, within approved delegations. 

Your Key Responsibilities – Make Your Mark 

Financial Analysis & Reporting: Support month-end and year-end close processes; prepare journals, balance sheet reconciliations, management reports, financial statements and cash flow analysis; and assist with consolidated reporting and intercompany transactions across ARRC and its subsidiaries. 

Budgeting, Forecasting & Commercial Insight: Support capital development and operational budgets, maintain rolling forecasts, analyse budget and forecast variances, and develop financial models and project cost reporting to support business cases and operational decisions.

Statutory, Funding & Audit Support: Assist with statutory financial statements, audit schedules and regulatory obligations, together with quarterly reporting, budget drawdowns, special funding requests and acquittals under the Services and Funding Agreement. 

Financial Controls, Systems & Governance: Apply financial policies, procedures, delegations and internal controls; maintain reporting and compliance calendars; and contribute to stronger finance processes, ERP functionality, data quality and controls for new entities and service lines. 

Business Partnering & Role Coverage: Build effective relationships with operational leaders, the City of Gold Coast, auditors, advisers and outsourced providers. Explain financial information clearly, support budget owners and develop the capability to provide day-to-day Finance Manager coverage when required. 

What We’re Looking For: 

Qualifications & Experience 

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or a related discipline. CPA, CA or equivalent professional accreditation, or active progress toward completion. 

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in financial or management accounting, including month-end and year-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement preparation and audit support. 

• Experience preparing budgets and forecasts and developing financial models, business cases or investment evaluations. 

• Advanced Microsoft Excel capability and experience using financial systems and ERP platforms. Power BI or other business intelligence experience is desirable. 

• Experience in a commercial, large organisational, infrastructure, waste, recycling or project-based environment is highly regarded.
