Flashbutt Welder - Mackay

We are seeking an experienced Flashbutt Welder to join our Production team.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for flashbutt welding and associated fabrication activities while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and productivity.

About the role

• Perform flashbutt welding in accordance with approved procedures and specifications
• Undertake repair welding, fabrication and mechanical cutting as required
• Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and work instructions
• Use hand tools, power tools, workshop machinery, 9-inch grinders and pneumatic chisels
• Perform measurements and calculations using string lines, straight edges and related equipment
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment
• Contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives

About you

• Mechanical Trade qualification or equivalent
• Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and engineering specifications
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Experience using 9-inch grinders and pneumatic chisels
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Railway turnout manufacturing, maintenance or refurbishment experience is highly regarded
