Part-Time Medical Receptionist

About the Role

Newcastle Family Practice is seeking a friendly, reliable, and experienced Casual Medical Receptionist to join our supportive healthcare team.

This is a key front-of-house position, ideal for someone who enjoys working with patients, thrives in a busy medical environment, and takes pride in providing professional, friendly, and compassionate service.

The position is offered on a casual basis with a guaranteed minimum of 8 hours per week, with regular weekday shifts and the opportunity to work additional hours for holiday and sick leave relief.

We are looking for someone who is flexible and available to work across weekday business hours as required.

Weekdays only — no evenings or weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome patients in a professional, warm, and courteous manner

• Schedule appointments and manage patient bookings efficiently, processing registration forms, and managing patient records

• Assisting with the organisation and maintenance of the medical practice's administrative systems

• Process patient registrations and maintain accurate medical records

• Handle incoming phone calls, enquiries, and patient requests

• Liaise closely with clinicians to support seamless patient care

• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and attention to detail

• Provide general administrative support as required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist (essential)

• Experience using Best Practice medical software (highly regarded)

• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional approach

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong organisational and multitasking abilities

• Confidence using computer systems and medical software

• A genuine interest in healthcare and patient wellbeing

• Availability to work a minimum of 8 hours per week

• Flexibility to work additional hours for holiday and sick leave relief

• Reliability and a strong work ethic
