Part-Time Armoured Vehicle Crew (Tax-Free Pay)

Your Role
As a part-time Armoured Vehicle Crew member in the Army Reserve, you’ll be a part of the close-knit team carrying out reconnaissance, surveillance, defensive and security duties in high-tech military vehicles. You’ll receive full training in weapon use and military tactics, undertaking dismounted missions (on foot) and mounted missions (in offroad and armoured vehicles).

Your duties may include:

• performing reconnaissance and surveillance roles using advanced technology and equipment
• operating as a scout in tactical situations
• supporting defensive and offensive operations
• participating in stability operations and domestic relief operations within Australia and overseas
• driving and maintaining protected vehicles
• employing vehicle weapons
• employing anti-armour weapons
• operating and maintaining advanced communications equipment.

On completion of your initial military and employment training, you could earn at least $225/day tax-free.

The pay you receive in the Army Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax, and it increases as you gain seniority and experience. Additional amounts are paid for time spent on exercises and deployments.

Location

You will train for 3 weeks in Wagga Wagga, NSW. Following your training, you will be posted to an Army unit close to where you live.

Eligibility
For this role, you must:

• Be at least 17 years of age when you enter the ADF
• Have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics

• Be reasonably fit and healthy. Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare
• Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance
