Digital Health General Practitioner - Night Shifts (Telehealth GP)

Aspen Medical is proud to partner with Healthdirect Australia to deliver the 1800MEDICARE service: a virtual-first, 24/7 model providing Australians with access to urgent primary care when they need it. Supported by both the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australian Medical Association (AMA), this service is helping shape the future of healthcare.

We're particularly looking for Specialist General Practitioners interested in working overnight, with a focus on the 11pm–6am period.

We know overnight work isn't for everyone. But for the Australians who need medical advice at that hour, having an experienced GP available can make an enormous difference.

Working overnight with 1800MEDICARE gives you the opportunity to:

• Provide reassurance and clinical guidance to patients when their usual GP may be unavailable.
• Support parents managing sick children through the night.
• Assist elderly and vulnerable Australians who may otherwise feel they have nowhere to turn.
• Improve access to care for regional, rural and remote communities.
• Help patients understand when they can safely remain at home – and when they genuinely need emergency care.
• Contribute to reducing avoidable pressure on Australia's emergency departments and after-hours health services.

• Competitive hourly rates of $175-$200 per hour
• Public Holiday $245 per hour

• Paid training (must be completed within the first 2 weeks of commencement)
• Consideration of a streamlined training pathway for GP Clinicians who have previous telehealth experience
• 24/7 operational and clinical support

• Minimum commitment is 15 hours per fortnight, with shifts ranging from 2 to 10 hours.
• Fixed shift options are negotiable for overnight coverage and weekend hours.
• Availability to work overnight shifts, weekends, and throughout December holiday period, including rostering public holidays, is strongly preferred

As an 1800MEDICARE GP, you will:

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centred episodic care through video and telephone consultations.
• Provide timely, evidence-based medical advice and treatment recommendations.
• Assess patients and determine appropriate pathways for ongoing or urgent care.
• Create concise, actionable care summaries and facilitate referrals to appropriate local healthcare services.
• Utilise digital health technologies including My Health Record, electronic prescribing and secure messaging.
• Support continuity of care through accurate clinical documentation and communication with patients' regular GPs where appropriate.

You'll need:

• Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Specialist General Practitioner (FRACGP or FACRRM).
• A minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience practising as a Specialist GP in Australia.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of English proficiency.
• Strong clinical judgement and confidence providing episodic care in a virtual environment.
• Strong digital literacy and confidence learning new clinical systems.
• A reliable internet connection with minimum speeds of 50 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload.
• Previous telehealth experience is highly regarded, but not essential.
