Technical Business Analyst

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security. 

As part of our growing team, we're seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst to transform complex data into actionable insights that support critical business and operational decisions.

About the role 

In this role, you'll bridge business needs with data, analytics, and technical solutions, enabling evidence-based decision-making across complex Defence environments. You'll play a key role in shaping data-driven strategies, improving information management practices, and ensuring the effective governance and use of high-value data assets. Working alongside Defence stakeholders, vendors, and data custodians, you'll help drive continuous improvement while mentoring junior analysts and contributing to organisational capability uplift

What You'll Do

You will manage and govern large, sensitive, and high-value data assets in line with Defence security, legislative, and policy requirements. Working closely with stakeholders, vendors, and data custodians, you will support the integration and movement of data across source systems, reporting platforms, and analytical tools. You will ensure data, tools, and processes are fit for purpose, aligned with broader data strategy objectives, and meet reporting requirements, while acting as a trusted technical authority on Defence data management, analytics, and information management systems.

• Apply advanced analytical, modelling, and visualisation techniques to solve complex business challenges.
• Translate business requirements into meaningful insights, reporting solutions, and decision-support products.
• Mentor and support junior analysts, contributing to the development of analytics capability across the organisation.

What You'll Bring

You will have strong expertise in data management, governance, analytics, and information management, with the ability to work confidently with large and complex datasets to generate meaningful business insights. Your advanced analytical, problem-solving, data modelling, and visualisation skills will enable you to support informed decision-making and drive data-driven outcomes.

• Ability to translate business requirements into technical and data-driven solutions.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Experience working with reporting, business intelligence, and analytics platforms.
• A commitment to data quality, continuous improvement, and best-practice information management.
