We are currently seeking a First Peoples’ Program Project Coordinator to join our team. 

The Role 

Reporting to the First Peoples Program Executive Lead, you will coordinate the strategic planning, delivery and follow-up of Oxfam Australia’s 2027 Indigenous Summit and associated First Peoples’ initiatives and future community events. 

This role provides high-level project coordination, stakeholder engagement, communications, research and strategic support to ensure  successful  planning,  delivery  and  follow-up  of  the  Summit, and other community events  while  strengthening Oxfam Australia’s relationships with First Nations peoples, communities, organisations and allies. 

The First Peoples Program Project Coordinator role has oversight/will manage the First Peoples Program Events Coordinator position which is a 12 month position to support with community events.

Key Responsibilities 

• Coordinate strategic planning and delivery of First Peoples’ events and initiatives leading up to the 2027 Indigenous Summit. 

• Develop and maintain project plans, reporting frameworks, registers and tracking systems. 

• Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and external First Peoples’ stakeholders. 

• Organise governance, planning and consultation meetings, including agendas, minutes, action logs and follow-up. 

• Monitor project milestones, risks, actions and deliverables, escalating issues where required. 

• Coordinate stakeholder engagement, communications and information sharing with communities, partners and allies. 

• Undertake research, stakeholder mapping and analysis to inform strategic approaches and recommendations. 

• Support evaluation, impact reporting and post-Summit community engagement activities.

Essential:

• Experience coordinating complex projects, consultations or stakeholder engagement initiatives. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including reports, briefs and stakeholder communications. 

• Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines 

• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement capability. 

• Strong project administration, planning and logistics coordination skills. 

• Demonstrated experience working respectfully with First Nations peoples, communities and organisations. 

A little about you (Key Selection Criteria) 

• Experience in the development and maintenance of project plans, templates, communication tools, registers, reporting frameworks and tracking systems.  

• Highly organised and developed approach in governance, planning and leading consultations meetings and workshops, including agendas, papers, minutes, action logs and follow-up activities.  

• Experience in conducting research, stakeholder mapping and analysis that has informed future approaches and recommendations.  

• Experience drafting concept notes and project proposals including monitoring of milestones, risk mitigation, reporting creation and alignment to cultural protocols 

• Experience in undertaking research and scoping activities relating to partnerships, ethical standards, community engagement frameworks and sector best practice with First Nations Peoples and communities.
