ABOUT THE COMPANY
NECA Electrical Apprenticeships is a not-for-profit Group Training Organisation (GTO) that employs over 750 apprentices in NSW, QLD, the ACT and WA. NECA EA is owned by the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA), providing apprentices with the full range of work available in the electrical industry. This ensures that the apprentices receive the broad experience needed to complete their trade and pursue careers that align with their areas of interest.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The primary objective of this role is to oversee the successful operation and growth of the NECA QLD GTO, ensuring apprentices and clients receive a high standard of service and support.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for the recruitment, employment and ongoing management of apprentices, ensuring they progress successfully through their training and achieve the required outcomes to become qualified electrical tradespersons.

The role will also oversee the financial and operational performance of the NECA QLD branch in consultation with the COO, including budgeting, business growth, increasing apprentice host opportunities, developing effective systems and processes, and ensuring GTO and ISO audit requirements are met.

This is a full-time role based in Queensland.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the NECA QLD GTO and branch.

• Manage the recruitment, employment and ongoing support of apprentices.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with host employers, apprentices and key stakeholders.

• Identify opportunities to grow apprentice numbers and develop new host employer relationships.

• Manage branch budgeting, financial performance and reporting in consultation with the COO.

• Develop and implement systems and processes to support operational growth and efficiency.

• Ensure GTO and ISO compliance and audit requirements are achieved.

• Lead and support the NECA QLD team to deliver quality outcomes for apprentices and clients.

• Manage the QLD Field Operations and Admin team.

• Other relevant duties.

CRITERIA

• Electrical Trade (Licensed Electrician) with at least five years experience in the industry.

• Current drivers licence.

• Working with Children Check or the ability to obtain.

• Demonstrated experience in operations, business or people management.

• Strong leadership and relationship management skills.

• Experience managing budgets and financial performance.

• Excellent organisational and time management skills.

• Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

• Experience within the electrical, training or GTO industry would be highly advantageous.

• High level of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.
