Hound Hotel
About the role
Yandina Hound Hotel | Kulangoor, Sunshine Coast
Yandina Hound Hotel is looking for a reliable, caring and hardworking Animal Attendant to join our team.
We are a family-owned dog boarding facility in Kulangoor, providing our guests with a genuine home away from home while their families are away.
This is a hands-on and physically active casual role. Our Animal Attendants are an important part of each dog's day, helping provide the individual care, attention, exercise and enrichment that we pride ourselves on.
We currently operate two care shifts each day:
AM shift: approximately 7:00am–10:00am
PM shift: approximately 3:00pm–5:30pm
Applicants will need to have reliable availability across a combination of weekdays, weekends and peak holiday periods.
As an Animal Attendant, your responsibilities will include:
Providing warm, attentive and individual care to the dogs staying with us
Preparing and providing meals according to each guest's individual requirements
Walking dogs and providing individual play and enrichment
Cleaning and preparing guest rooms, courtyards, bedding, bowls and care areas to our high hygiene standards
Safely handling dogs of different sizes, breeds, temperaments and energy levels
Monitoring each dog's behaviour, appetite, toileting and general wellbeing
Recognising changes or concerns and promptly reporting these to the Shift Supervisor
Following individual care instructions and established procedures
Maintaining accurate care records as required
Working closely with the rest of the team to ensure every guest receives consistent, high-quality care
Assisting with the general day-to-day operation of the Hotel
First and foremost, we're looking for someone who genuinely cares about animals and understands that excellent animal care also requires reliability, attention to detail and hard work.
The right person will:
Have a genuine commitment to animal welfare and providing exceptional care
Be calm, confident and compassionate when handling dogs
Be reliable and punctual — our guests depend on us every day
Be comfortable working with dogs of all sizes and a variety of personalities
Be observant and able to recognise and communicate changes in a dog's behaviour or wellbeing
Be able to follow instructions, procedures and individual care requirements carefully
Work well as part of a team and communicate openly with supervisors and other staff
Take pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
Be comfortable undertaking a physically active role involving walking, cleaning, bending, lifting and spending much of the shift on your feet
Have a valid driver's licence and reliable transport
Previous experience in animal care, boarding, veterinary, grooming or a similar environment would be highly regarded, but attitude, reliability and a genuine willingness to learn are equally important to us.
At Yandina Hound Hotel, we want our team to enjoy coming to work and to feel proud of the care they provide.
We offer:
A supportive, family-owned working environment
Competitive casual wages
Ongoing training and development
The opportunity to develop your animal-care knowledge and skills
A hands-on role where you get to know our regular guests and become part of their extended Yandina Hound family
And, of course, the opportunity to spend your working day surrounded by dogs!
Yandina Hound Hotel is a family-owned boarding facility on the Sunshine Coast.
Our philosophy is simple:
“If this was my own dog, what would I want for them today?”
Our guests stay in private rooms with their own courtyards and receive individual walks, play, enrichment, attention and care from our team.
We want families to be able to go away with peace of mind, knowing their best friend is safe, loved and enjoying a holiday of their own.
If this sounds like the kind of animal-care environment you'd be proud to be part of, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply now and tell us a little about yourself, your experience with dogs, and why you'd like to join the Yandina Hound Hotel team.
