Optometrist - Acute Care

About the role

This is a Part-Time position in a fast-paced, acute care environment, where you will assess and manage patients presenting with urgent and complex eye conditions. You will be required to work in a clinically confident capacity, often independently, making confident clinical decisions in a time-sensitive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage patients presenting with urgent and complex eye conditions

• Diagnose and manage ocular pathology and acute presentations

• Make confident clinical decisions in a time-sensitive environment

• Explain clinical findings and treatment plans to patients

• Manage patients through initial assessment, management and follow-up

• Work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of clinical care

• Work autonomously while collaborating effectively with other healthcare professionals

About you

• Current AHPRA registration as a Therapeutic Optometrist

• Strong clinical experience and a high level of attention to detail

• Extensive exposure to ocular pathology and acute presentations

• Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills

• Confidence managing patients in a fast-paced environment

• Exceptional communication skills

• Strong patient-centred care experience

• Professional, empathetic and reassuring manner with patients

• Open to flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
