Sheet Metal Worker / HVAC Duct Installer

About the role

As a Sheet Metal Worker / Duct Installer, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of commercial HVAC ductwork and related components. You will work across a range of major construction projects, ensuring ductwork systems are installed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

• Install rigid and flexible HVAC ductwork across commercial construction projects.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, schematics and technical specifications.
• Ensure installations meet Australian Standards, project specifications and safety requirements.
• Repair, replace and modify ductwork and related HVAC components where required.
• Use hand and power tools including shears, snips, drills and measuring equipment.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, trades and project teams to meet installation schedules.
• Assist with troubleshooting, maintenance and equipment-related issues.
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship, housekeeping and site safety.
• Where required, provide guidance and support to junior team members.

About you

• Proven experience in commercial HVAC duct installation, sheet metal work or construction.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills.
• Experience installing rigid and flexible ducting.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret plans, drawings and technical diagrams.
• Good understanding of Australian construction practices and WHS requirements.
• Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to guide junior team members.
• Construction Industry White Card.
• Current Driver's Licence.
