What you will be doing in this role
As a Sleep Technician within the Paediatric Sleep Unit, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality diagnostic sleep services for children and adolescents. You will perform a range of sleep studies, including polysomnography, CPAP titration studies, and Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT), ensuring accurate data collection through the setup, calibration, and monitoring of specialised sleep equipment. Working directly with patients and their families, you will help create a welcoming, supportive, and child-friendly environment by providing education, reassurance, and compassionate care throughout the sleep study process.
Working closely with paediatric sleep physicians and the multidisciplinary team, you help prepare patients for overnight sleep studies (training provided). Apply sensors and electrodes according to AASM standards. Troubleshoot equipment and signal quality issues. Maintain accurate documentation and uphold clinical quality standards.
In addition, you will contribute to the quality and continuous improvement of the Sleep Unit by ensuring equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards, participating in quality assurance activities and audits, and supporting the review of clinical procedures and practices.
