Leading Hand Cleaners - Defence Sites

ESS delivers essential hospitality and support services to remote and Defence sites across Australia. From accommodation blocks to training facilities and shared amenities, our teams ensure Defence communities operate smoothly every day.

We’re seeking an experienced and proactive Leading Hand Cleaner to join our ESS (Defence, Offshore & Remote) business. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll support the daily cleaning operations while guiding a small team to maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety and service across the base.

As part of the Compass Group, you’ll work within a professional, supportive team that values safety, respect and excellence in everything we do.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and coordinating day-to-day cleaning activities across accommodation, offices and common areas

• Providing hands-on cleaning support while monitoring quality, safety and service standards

• Ensuring equipment, chemicals and storage areas are maintained and compliant

• Coaching and supporting team members to meet daily schedules and site expectations

• Liaising with supervisors, contractors and Defence stakeholders when required

• Upholding site-specific hygiene, security and safety procedures

What we’re looking for:

• Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping or facilities services (leadership experience highly regarded)

• Strong communication skills with the ability to guide and motivate a team

• A commitment to safety, compliance and delivering high service standards

• Reliability, attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving

• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends if required

• Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check and Defence clearance

• Australian Citizenship is mandatory for this role
