Case Worker - Alcohol and Other Drugs
EVANDALE | Part-Time
City Mission is seeking a compassionate, community-focused Case Worker to join our team on a permanent part-time basis (30 hours per week). This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals seeking support to manage their substance use and achieve positive outcomes.

Experience working within the Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) sector will be highly regarded.
A qualification in Community Services or a willingness to obtain one.
The ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with external service providers and to achieve positive outcomes for participants.

Missiondale provides a supportive environment for people engaging in long-term recovery in a Therapeutic Community setting. Missiondale is set on a tranquil 25 acres outside of Evandale and is funded for 34 beds, delivering a six-month program. The program includes individual and group therapy, skills development, case management and clinical support. Clients who enter Missiondale have completed their detox or withdrawal period elsewhere prior to admission.
Primarily the Case Worker AOD will be responsible for facilitating group-based therapies and education and provide individual case management to residents in different stages of AOD recovery. The Case Worker AOD will ensure that the principles and guidelines of Missiondale’s Therapeutic Community model of care are embedded in their work with clients.
This position and salary will be based on the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 Level 3.1. As a Public Benevolent Institution, Launceston City Mission employees are eligible to salary package through our approved provider.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential Qualifications/Experience:
Diploma in Community Services (Alcohol & Other Drugs), Certificate IV in Community Services or similar.
Ability to work with a diverse team including those from disadvantaged and vulnerable backgrounds.
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain positive professional relationships with clients, staff and external stakeholders.
National Police Check is required for all roles at LCM.
Registration to Work with Vulnerable People is required for all roles at LCM.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
Experience or demonstrated capacity to work in an organisation adopting a Christian ethos.
Prior experience in the Alcohol and other Drug Sector.
A good understanding of the challenges experienced by people who use alcohol and other drugs:
Knowledge of drugs and their effects;
Knowledge of symptoms of intoxication and withdrawal;
Knowledge and experience in conducting alcohol and other drug assessments, brief interventions and other health interventions;
Knowledge of motivational interview techniques;
Knowledge of relapse prevention strategies.
Experience and demonstrated success in providing case management and/or support to clients with complex needs.
Positive history of following organisational policy & procedures.
Demonstrated high level time management and prioritisation skills.
Demonstrated history of setting and applying good professional boundaries.
