Who is Harbison?

Harbison is a charitable, community-owned, not-for-profit organisation that provides residential and non-residential care and support services for aged or disabled people, including a range of support services and systems to assist aged and disabled people to achieve maximum independence and integration within a residential or community setting, education and training of professionals and other care providers, and activities which are incidental or conducive to these objectives.

Currently, Harbison is an approved aged care provider, registered NDIS provider, approved childcare provider, retirement village owner, and one of the largest employers in the Southern Highlands. Harbison is governed by a Board of Directors which appoints a Chief Executive Officer who is delegated with day-to-day responsibility for the organisation.

Primary purpose of the role

The purpose of the Catering Assistant is to ensure a high standard of customer service throughout the residents’ mealtime experience.

Key Accountabilities

•Understand each person and recognise their unique background and individual needs, whilst supplying empathic care to all customers.

•Partner with catering team and broader care services team to ensure strong collaboration between teams and ensure high level of care is provided to residents.

•Communicate with residents to resolve complaints and ensure satisfaction.

•Ensure high quality food is supplied to residents in a timely and efficient manner.

•Provide a high level of customer service through the delivery and service of meals (including dining room and tray service), beverage preparation, setting up and clearing the dining room and returning dirty dishes and trays to the kitchen.

•Ensure food hygiene and health and safety regulations are always adhered to.

•Carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the role.

Requirements

•Previous experience in food service in a commercial environment.

•Demonstrated work practices in line with health regulations.

•Capacity to establish and maintain good workflow techniques.

•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

•Strong relationship building skills and customer centric approach

•Flexibility to work across different roles within the catering team when required
