Sewage Treatment Plant Operators

The Sewage Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of a sewage treatment plant (STP) in accordance with quality assurance systems and licence parameters. Roles may be based at any one of our 4 mainland Sewer Treatment Plants, Elanora, Merrimac, Coombabah or Pimpama. 

Sewage Treatment Plant Operator Level 6 key responsibilities include: 

• Responsible for the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) (including outside normal hours) in accordance with Quality Assurance Systems under remote supervision.
• Effectively communicate and work with all Supervisors, Operators and Assistants based on the principles of teamwork, cooperation and equity to create a harmonious and productive workplace.
• Responsible for complying with Council Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental Protection requirements and to pro-actively identify, report and address any safety and environmental issues in the work environment.
• This role may be required to participate in a scheduled overtime roster with additional allowances payable

Sewage Treatment Plant Operator Level 7 key responsibilities: 

• Responsible for the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) (including outside normal hours) in accordance with Quality Assurance Systems under remote supervision.
• Effectively communicate and work with all Supervisors, Operators and Assistants based on the principles of teamwork, cooperation and equity to create a harmonious and productive workplace.
• Responsible for complying with Council Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental Protection requirements and to pro-actively identify, report and address any safety and environmental issues in the work environment.
• Providing exception reports and recommending appropriate remedial actions to operators for operations outside licence, quality assurance, and integrated environmental management system requirements.
• Providing accurate, detailed technical advice and knowledge to both the team and internal and external stakeholders.
• This role may be required to participate in a scheduled overtime roster with additional allowances payable.  

Sewage Treatment Plant Operator Level 9 key responsibilities:  

• Operate and maintain the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)—including outside normal working hours—to ensure efficient and effective performance in accordance with Quality Assurance Systems under remote supervision.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with Supervisors, Operators, and Assistants, applying the principles of teamwork, cooperation, and equity to support a harmonious and productive workplace.
• Comply with GCCC Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental Protection requirements, and proactively identify, report, and address safety and environmental issues within the work environment.
• Provide exception reports and recommend remedial actions to operators for activities outside Licence, Quality Assurance, and Integrated Environmental Management System requirements.
• Provide accurate and detailed technical advice and knowledge to team members and to internal and external customers and develop innovative work practices to enhance workplace productivity.
• This role will be required to participate in a 1 in 4 On call roster with additional allowances payable. 

All positions are classified as security-sensitive critical infrastructure positions and the successful candidate will be required to undertake an SOCI ACT Background Check.
