About the role
You will lead the Youth Leadership Program, working directly with young people aged 12–25 who are disengaged or at risk.
Key responsibilities
Plan and run on-country day trips and camps alongside Elders and community members
Identify opportunities and programs for improved youth services
Provide one-on-one and group support in safe, culturally strong spaces
Recruit and supervise a full-time Youth Support Worker
Partner with schools, services and agencies for joined-up support
Track and report on program outcomes
About you (Selection criteria)
Understands Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and can communicate sensitively in a discrete Aboriginal community
Experience working with young people (youth work, community services, education, sport or similar) with trauma-informed, culturally safe practice
Strong communicator with young people, families and government agencies
Works independently and meets deadlines in a remote community setting
Keeps good records and contributes to program and funding reports
Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
Satisfactory Criminal History Check
Current 'C' Class Open (Manual) or 'LR' Driver's License valid in Queensland
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate, or willingness to obtain within a short timeframe
