About the role
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Fire Systems Service Technician to join our fire service team. The role involves servicing, repairing, installing and fault-finding fire protection systems and equipment across commercial and industrial sites, together with routine inspection and testing duties as required.
The successful applicant will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs and minor installation works, testing fire panels and associated systems, replacing or upgrading equipment, and ensuring systems are returned to safe and compliant operation. The role also includes completing accurate service records, identifying defects and non-compliances, and communicating professionally with clients and internal staff. Strong technical ability, attention to detail, a safety-first attitude and the ability to work independently are essential.
Key responsibilitiesCarry out servicing, repairs and fault-finding on fire protection systems and equipment.
Diagnose faults on fire indicator panels, detection and alarm systems, monitored systems and associated equipment.
Repair, replace and install fire system components and equipment as required.
Undertake minor installation, modification and upgrade works.
Carry out routine testing and inspection of fire systems where required.
Identify the cause of system faults and provide practical recommendations for repair or rectification.
Complete site logbooks, service dockets and digital reports accurately.
Identify, record and escalate defects, non-compliances and urgent issues.
Liaise professionally with clients, site contacts and internal service coordinators.
Follow safe work procedures, site requirements, relevant Australian Standards and company procedures.
Maintain company tools, test equipment and vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
Support broader fire systems service and installation works depending on skills and experience.
Previous experience as a fire systems technician or in the fire protection industry is preferred.
Experience with fire panel fault-finding, repairs and installation work will be highly regarded.
Strong practical and diagnostic skills with the ability to work through faults methodically.
Reliable, organised and comfortable working independently across multiple sites.
Good communication skills and professional presentation.
Current driver’s licence.
Ability to complete paperwork and digital reporting accurately.
Experience with fire detection and alarm systems, extinguishers, hose reels, emergency lighting, sprinklers or fire pumps would be highly regarded.
Relevant electrical, fire protection or industry qualifications/licences would be advantageous.
