The Opportunity 

We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Environmental & OHS Officer to join our team at a meat processing facility located in Batchelor, NT. This hands-on role will support the ongoing implementation of workplace health, safety, environmental, and compliance programs across our operations.

Working closely with management and employees, you will help maintain a safe workplace, promote environmental responsibility, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, company procedures, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.

• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.

• Support environmental monitoring and compliance activities.

• Maintain safety, environmental, and compliance records.

• Assist with the delivery of safety inductions and toolbox talks.

• Monitor workplace practices to ensure adherence to safety procedures.

• Support risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Assist with regulator, customer, and certification audits.

• Promote a positive safety culture throughout the site.

About You:

Must haves

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience in Workplace Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field.

• Knowledge of WHS legislation and environmental compliance requirements.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent organisational and record-keeping abilities.

• Confidence engaging with employees across all levels of the business.

• Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

• A proactive approach with strong attention to detail.

Preferred

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or working towards).

• Environmental management qualifications or experience.

• Experience within food processing, manufacturing, agriculture, or meat processing industries.

• First Aid certification.
