The Sydney Library of Things is looking for a Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to help support our incredible volunteer community and strengthen one of Sydney’s most inspiring grassroots organisations.
This is a flexible, part-time role for someone who enjoys connecting with people, making things run smoothly behind the scenes and helping volunteers feel welcomed, supported and connected.

About the role:Approx 10 hours per week.Initial 6-month contract, with the intention to extend if it's a good fit for everyone.You'll be the central point of contact for volunteers, helping create a positive and seamless experience from first enquiry through to onboarding and ongoing engagement.Help grow one of Sydney’s leading circular economy organisations.Opportunity to shape and grow the role over time.$38.65/hr + Super depending on experience.
What you’ll doWe’re seeking a Volunteer Engagement Coordinator who ensures the smooth recruitment, onboarding, and communication with volunteers across the organisation. This role supports coordinators and the Board by managing volunteer records, maintaining accurate databases, and streamlining communication processes. By acting as the central point of contact for volunteer enquiries and documentation, the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator plays a central role in welcoming and supporting our volunteers.
Key DutiesRespond to volunteer enquiries and connect them to the relevant coordinator/branch.Support volunteer onboarding and ensure required documentation is completed.Maintain accurate volunteer records and databases.Work closely with branch and front desk coordinators.Improve and streamline volunteer communication processes.Help foster a welcoming, connected volunteer community.
About youYou don't need to tick every box. We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and enjoys working with people. A willingness to work with the team is most important.
Ideally you’ll have:Strong organisational and administrative skills, with attention to detail.Great communication and relationship-building abilities to liaise with volunteers and coordinators.The ability to juggle multiple tasks and work independently.A collaborative approach and genuine enthusiasm for community-led initiatives.Experience using databases and online communication tools.Ability to manage enquiries, prioritise tasks, and work collaboratively in a team.Experience in volunteer management, human resources, community engagement or not-for-profit organisations would be highly regarded, but isn't essential.
