SMYA is an established leader in packaging and contract beverage filling in Australia and New Zealand and is a joint venture between two packaging leaders, San Miguel Corporation of the Philippines and Nihon Yamamura Glass of Japan.  Cospak and SMYA are present in all major states across Australia and in Auckland, New Zealand.

The Role

As an established leader in the manufacture and distribution of packaging solutions across the Australasian market, Cospak Australia has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Officer to join our International Purchasing Team on a full-time basis.

Based at our Minto office, the Purchasing Officer will play a key role in ensuring the continuity and timely supply of traded products across the Cospak business. Working closely with suppliers, freight providers and internal stakeholders, you will be responsible for managing the purchasing process from forecasting and order placement through to delivery.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring continuity of supply across the Cospak traded product range

• Promptly placing purchase orders with suppliers in accordance with Company processes

• Developing and maintaining strong, positive relationships with international suppliers

• Forecasting demand and supporting effective inventory planning

• Monitoring and maintaining reliable supplier lead times

• Prioritising daily activities to support optimal customer service to Cospak branches

• Coordinating the delivery of stock using the most efficient and cost-effective freight solutions

• Maintaining accurate product information, pricing and purchasing data

• Assisting with the resolution and timely actioning of non-conformances

• Monitoring orders and following up with suppliers to ensure delivery commitments are met

• Completing purchasing and supply chain reporting as required

What You Will Bring

We are looking for an organised, commercially minded and proactive purchasing professional who can effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

You will ideally have:

• Demonstrated experience in a purchasing, procurement or supply chain role

• Experience in international purchasing, overseas freight, shipping and import procedures

• Strong forecasting and demand planning skills, with the ability to anticipate future requirements across extended supplier lead times

• Experience working with computer-based ERP and purchasing systems

• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook; SAP experience will be highly regarded

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

• The ability to work collaboratively within a team while also taking ownership of your responsibilities

• A proactive approach to identifying and resolving supply issues

• Experience within the packaging industry will be highly regarded
