About the role
Wandiyali is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, established in Newcastle in 1997. We are the largest accredited Aboriginal provider of PSP OOHC within Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter Region, and Port Stephens. Wandiyali also has a number of Preservation Programs and support services that work closely with children, young people and families.

The Opportunity
The Domestic and Family Violence Young Person Pilot Program (DFV YPP) is an NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) initiative in addressing the key drivers of domestic and family violence (DFV) early to break cycles of violence early and protect victim-survivors.
Yimaliko meaning Encourage in Awabakal language (DFV YPP) is an early intervention program for children and young people aged 10–17 years who are using or at risk of using violence against family members. It seeks to address the underlying drivers of DFV while strengthening protective factors that reduce the likelihood of escalation into more serious, entrenched, or long-term harm. The program aims to interrupt pathways toward future violence, justice involvement, and intergenerational DFV, while supporting young people’s safety, wellbeing, and positive development.
Yimaliko (DFV YPP) is grounded in the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Framework (SEWB) and draws on evidence informed practice to provide a Culturally responsive and holistic program. Yimaliko (DFV YPP) recognises children, young people and families’ strengths, capabilities and goals, with clinicians working alongside families to reduce the incidence of DFV.
