Behaviour Support Practitioner

Key Responsibilities:
Undertaking and writing Functional Behaviour Assessments in collaboration with the person with a disability and their supports
Co-creating and reviewing Behaviour Support Plans (Interim Behaviour Support Plans and/or Comprehensive Positive Behaviour Support Plans) in partnership with the person with a disability (focus person), and often in collaboration with their supporters and stakeholders
Employing evidence-informed practice to co-produce quality Behaviour Support Plans based on the person's goals, interests and values
Fostering person-led and centred goal achievement, enhancing valued and meaningful outcomes, and mitigating environmental concerns through evidence-based practices
Training, monitoring and supporting the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support Plans in collaboration with and centred around the focus person - employing data to inform supports and improve outcomes
Growing and cultivating strong relationships with key implementers and stakeholders
Demonstrating leadership in integrity with a commitment to growing in the areas of person-centred, trauma-informed, rights-based, systems-change and neurodiversity-affirming practices.
Embracing and elevating the client's voice and input, promoting client satisfaction and strong outcomes.
An Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree in Psychology/behavioural sciences/Occupational Therapy/Speech and Language Pathology/Social Work/Teaching or a related field OR relevant experience and registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner
Registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner
Experience working with or supporting people with a disability across age ranges
Proficient Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong time management skills
Strong ability to follow legislative requirements, policy and procedures
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport and establish strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and colleagues
A proactive attitude with passion for working with people with a disability
A Driver’s Licence and own a vehicle with insurance
NDIS Worker’s Screening Check
Registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner
Ongoing commitment to professional development and learning
Experience as a Behaviour Support Practitioner/writing/developing/implementing Functional Behaviour Assessments and Behaviour Support Plans
Proficient or above registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner
Post-graduate degree in Positive Behaviour Support/Psychology/Occupational Therapy/Speech and Language Pathology/Social Work
Training or education in Positive Behaviour Support
Registration with AHPRA or other professional body as a Provisional Psychologist/Psychologist/Speech and Language Pathologist/Social Worker/Occupational Therapist or ability to gain registration.
