About Food & Stories

Food & Stories is a community program that brings residents together through cooking, shared meals and storytelling. The program aims to create opportunities for people to connect, build friendships, celebrate cultural diversity and develop meaningful connections in a warm and inclusive environment.

The Role

We are looking for a tutor who can:

• Facilitate engaging and inclusive cooking sessions
• Share cooking knowledge and skills with participants from diverse backgrounds
• Encourage cultural exchange through food and storytelling
• Create a welcoming environment that supports social connection and participation

Program Details

• Term 1, 2027: 7 weeks, from 1 February to 25 March 2027
• Term 2, 2027: 8 weeks, from 12 April to 4 June 2027
• 3 hours per week – 15 sessions in total
• Additional opportunity: An ongoing children's cooking class on Mondays, subject to sufficient enrolment numbers

About You

We are looking for someone with:

• Experience delivering cooking programs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience working with people from culturally diverse backgrounds
• A passion for bringing people together through food and shared experiences
• Current Food Handler Certificate (essential)
• Current National Police Check and Employee Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain both before commencing

Location

Waverley Community Learning Centre, 5 Fleet Street, Mount Waverley VIC.

Work type

• Casual / Sessional
• 3 hours per week
• 15 sessions across Term 1 and Term 2, 2027
• Additional Monday children's cooking class may be available, subject to sufficient enrolments.
