About the team
The Dental Oncology Department at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre provides specialist dental care to patients undergoing cancer treatment and those with complex medical needs. The team works collaboratively across the Parkville Medical Precinct to support patients before, during and after treatment, with a focus on safe, high-quality and patient-centred dental care.
About the role
The successful applicant will provide specialist-level dental care to patients at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre within the Dental Oncology Department. This is a casual position of up to 24 hours per week, providing cover over the Christmas/New Year 2026–27 period. The position reports to the Head of Dental Oncology and the Ambulatory Services team.
A regular day will see you:
• Providing specialist dental assessment and treatment for medically compromised patients within the Dental Oncology service.
• Undertaking dentoalveolar surgery and mucosal biopsies as required.
• Working collaboratively with the Dental Oncology, Ambulatory Services and broader multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and coordinated patient care.
• Using the electronic medical record (EMR) and IT systems across the Parkville Medical Precinct to accurately document and support patient care.
About you
You are an experienced dental professional who is confident working with medically complex patients and can deliver high-quality care in a specialist healthcare environment. You will bring excellent communication skills, a collaborative approach and a strong commitment to patient-centred care.
You’ll bring with you:
• Experience providing dental care to medically compromised patients.
• Demonstrated experience in dentoalveolar surgery and mucosal biopsies.
• Knowledge and experience using EMR and IT systems currently used across the Parkville Medical Precinct.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
• A commitment to safe, high-quality and patient-centred dental care.
