Role Description The Section Head International Mechanical Tendering Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Maadi, QLD. This role leads and manages the mechanical tendering function for international projects, including reviewing bid invitations, coordinating technical and commercial proposals, and ensuring compliance with client requirements and company standards. The position involves analyzing project specifications and drawings, preparing cost estimates, coordinating with engineering, procurement, and finance teams, and overseeing risk assessment for bids. The Section Head will guide junior tendering engineers, standardize tendering processes, maintain updated vendor and supplier databases, and participate in negotiations with clients and partners as needed. The role also requires regular reporting on tender status, market trends, and continuous improvement opportunities within the tendering department.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in mechanical engineering, including experience with mechanical systems, industrial equipment, and infrastructure projects; bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline is typically required.Demonstrated expertise in tendering and bidding for international engineering projects, including technical proposal preparation, cost estimation, and contract review.Proficiency in project coordination and stakeholder management, with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, finance, and legal teams.Solid analytical and numerical skills for evaluating technical specifications, pricing scenarios, and risk factors associated with complex tenders.Strong leadership capabilities to manage a section or team, mentor junior staff, and establish standardized tendering procedures.Effective written and verbal communication skills in English for drafting proposals, reports, and client correspondence; additional language skills are an advantage.High level of organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously under time-sensitive deadlines.Familiarity with relevant engineering standards, international contracting practices (e.g., FIDIC), and tendering software or ERP systems is beneficial.Previous experience in international markets, especially within energy, industrial manufacturing, or infrastructure sectors, is preferred.
