Feel Good Events
About the role
Full Time | Tuesday to Saturday | Ferntree Gully
Feel Good Events is a Melbourne event decorating and styling company based in Ferntree Gully. We provide furniture, lighting, draping, dance floors, décor and styling for weddings, private parties and corporate events across Melbourne.
We are looking for a reliable and hands on Event Hire Warehouse & Setup Assistant to join our team full time.
This is mostly a warehouse based role with a mix of equipment preparation, event setups, deliveries and pack downs.
The balance changes from week to week depending on our event calendar and the time of year. Some weeks will be mainly spent in the warehouse preparing and maintaining equipment, while busier event weeks may involve considerably more time out at venues helping our team install and pack down weddings, parties and corporate events.
If you like practical work, enjoy being active and want a job where the work changes depending on what's happening that week, this could suit you.
The warehouse is the base of this role and where all of our events start and finish.
You will work with our manager and events team to prepare equipment for upcoming weddings, parties and corporate events.
Your day to day work will include:
Picking and preparing equipment for upcoming events.
Checking orders carefully against picking lists.
Cleaning and preparing furniture, décor and hire equipment.
Testing lighting and other electrical event equipment.
Preparing dance floors, draping, props, furniture, florals and styling items for installation.
Packing equipment safely for transport.
Loading and unloading vans and trucks.
Checking returned equipment for damage or maintenance requirements.
Putting returned equipment back into the correct warehouse locations.
Assisting with stocktakes.
Carrying out basic equipment maintenance where required.
Keeping the warehouse clean, organised and safe.
Helping make sure every event leaves the warehouse complete and ready to install.
Attention to detail is important. Missing one small item from an order can create a much bigger problem once the team arrives at a venue.
Depending on our event schedule, part of your week may also be spent onsite at weddings, parties and corporate events around Melbourne.
The amount of onsite work varies throughout the year. During busy periods you may be out at venues regularly, while quieter weeks may involve considerably more warehouse work.
Depending on the event, you could be helping to:
Deliver event equipment to venues.
Load and unload equipment onsite.
Set up furniture, florals and décor.
Install dance floors.
Install draping and backdrops.
Set up decorative and event lighting.
Position props and styling items.
Help set up wedding ceremonies and receptions.
Follow floor plans and setup instructions.
Assist our styling team with the final placement of decorating items.
Pack down events and return equipment to the warehouse.
You don't need previous event styling experience. We will train you in how our equipment is prepared, transported and installed.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is dependable, practical and happy doing physical work.
You will need to be:
Physically fit and comfortable regularly lifting and moving event equipment safely.
Reliable and punctual.
Detail focused and able to follow picking lists and instructions accurately.
Organised and able to keep track of equipment.
Comfortable working at a steady pace when multiple events are being prepared at once.
Willing to clean, pack and maintain equipment as part of the job.
Practical and comfortable learning how different equipment is assembled and installed.
Able to work well as part of a small team.
Comfortable taking initiative when you can see something needs to be done.
Professional when working at venues and around clients, venue staff and other suppliers.
Experience in warehousing, event hire, staging, exhibitions, deliveries or other hands on work would be an advantage.
This is a full-time Tuesday to Saturday position.
Most weeks you will work:
Tuesday to Saturday, approximately 9am to 5pm.
Because we work in events, some setup and pack down days may require earlier starts, later finishes or different hours.
Saturday is a normal working day for this position, not occasional weekend work.
There may occasionally be additional evening or weekend hours depending on the event schedule.
A valid Australian driver's licence is required.
You may be required to drive one of our automatic vans for deliveries, pickups and event setups.
Probationary licence holders are welcome to apply.
Our warehouse contains a large range of professional event decorating and hire equipment, including:
Furniture.
Dance floors.
Event and decorative lighting.
Draping.
Backdrops.
Bars.
Wedding decorating equipment.
Props and themed decorations.
Artificial florals and greenery.
Table décor and styling items.
Every week involves preparing different combinations of equipment for different events, so although the warehouse work is structured, the jobs you're preparing are constantly changing.
Previous event industry experience is not required but a big advantage.
All specific training will be provided on the job, including how to prepare, handle and install our equipment.
We're more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, reliability and work ethic who is willing to learn about events.
This is primarily a physical warehouse position with some event setup and delivery work.
It is not an event planning, office or administration role.
If you're looking purely for a creative styling position, this probably isn't the right job.
If you like working with your hands, staying active and seeing the equipment you've prepared turn into finished weddings and events, it may be a very good fit.
You must have appropriate ongoing Australian working rights to apply.
