About the role

The Equity and Empowerment Officer works within the Community Inclusion and Women’s Empowerment team facilitating leadership programs and supervising a group of 6 Youth Experts.

The role is part-time (0.7 FTE) Maximum term contract from the date of appointment to 30 June 2027.

The successful candidate will: 

• Review and apply best practice in leadership development and empowerment programs
• Supervise and support the Youth Experts team and Mentor Co-ordinator
• Develop and deliver youth leadership and empowerment initiatives
• Facilitate the Equity. Empower. Lead. Leadership and Mentoring Program
• Build partnerships with community organisations and government to advance youth programs
• Identify funding and sustainability opportunities for youth initiatives
• Collect and analyse program data to support evaluation and continuous improvement

About you

You will bring: 

• Skills and experience in community development and project development related to youth, including the ability to evaluate and modify program content where necessary
• Highly developed communication and facilitation skills
• Experience in developing and delivering training programs with both youth and generalist programs
• Awareness of the challenges of working in a field where disclosure can occur and an understanding of how to ensure wellbeing 
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team
• Ability to work with limited supervision, manage competing priorities and find creative solutions to problems
• Computer literacy skills
• Lived experience of disability

Job requirements

• Consent to check and release National Police Record with a satisfactory outcome
• Current Working with Children Check
• Australian Citizenship, permanent resident status or applicable work visa
