⚡ Help operate a first-of-its-kind renewable energy facility
🌱 Join a new industry producing renewable hydrogen and lower-carbon fertiliser
🛠️ Experienced Operator and entry-level Trainee Operator pathways available
📚 Structured technical, safety and site-specific training
🏡 Build a career in regional NSW, with potential relocation support
Hiringa is building its operations team for the Good Earth Green Hydrogen and Ammonia (GEGHA) facility near Moree, NSW.
The facility brings together solar generation and battery storage with renewable hydrogen and ammonia production, water treatment, storage and product load-out infrastructure. It is a first-of-its-kind facility creating new capability, skills and career pathways in regional Australia.
We are recruiting multiple Operators and Trainee Operators to help safely commission, start up and operate the facility. These are hands-on roles for people who want to be part of a new operation from the beginning and help shape the way the site works.
Roles report to the Facilities Manager – GEGHA and will work as part of the onsite operations team.
The facility will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These are shift-based positions working a rotating roster that is expected to include day and night shifts. Team members may also be required to participate in an on-call or emergency response roster once appropriately trained, assessed and authorised.
Your work may include:
Safety will be central to everything we do. You will be expected to follow procedures, respect operating limits, speak up about risk and contribute to a disciplined, supportive and improvement-focused site culture. The facility is being prepared to operate within a major-hazard environment, so competency, attention to detail and sound judgement matter.
Our Operator roles are suited to experienced process or production operators or trade qualified professionals who are comfortable working in a highly automated industrial environment and can contribute from commissioning through to steady-state operations.
You may come from:
Experience with SCADA, DCS, PLC or HMI systems, process safety, hazardous chemicals, permit-to-work systems, isolations and emergency response would be valuable.
A Certificate III in Process Plant Operations, or a comparable process operations, chemical processing, power generation or industrial qualification, is preferred. Experience supporting commissioning, start-up or early operations of a new plant would be an advantage.
Our Trainee Operator roles are designed for people with the right attitude, aptitude and commitment to build a career in process operations. You may not have a formal certificate or qualification but you are committed to learning and building your skillset.
You may be:
You do not need to arrive with hydrogen or ammonia experience. We will provide structured technical, site and safety training, supervised practical learning and competency development. Trainees will work alongside experienced operators and technical specialists, building the knowledge required to operate the facility safely and confidently.
We are looking for people who are reliable, curious, mechanically or technically minded, comfortable using computers, willing to follow procedures and ready to take responsibility for their own learning.
Moree offers the opportunity to build a meaningful career while enjoying the benefits of regional living: a welcoming community, more space, a relaxed lifestyle and significantly less congestion than a major city.
The region has a strong agricultural and industrial base, and GEGHA will add a new renewable energy industry and long-term technical capability to the local economy.
We welcome applications from people already living in Moree and the surrounding region. For successful candidates relocating from elsewhere, Hiringa may provide support towards reasonable relocation costs, depending on individual circumstances.
We are aiming for successful candidates to start from November or December 2026, subject to allow for participation in facility commissioning and operational readiness activities. Recruitment and onboarding may occur in stages across the Operator and Trainee Operator groups.
Apply with your CV and a short note in your cover letter telling us whether you are interested in an Operator or Trainee Operator opportunity, what relevant experience or transferable skills you bring, and why working at GEGHA in Moree appeals to you.
If you do not meet every requirement but believe you have the attitude, safety mindset and ability to succeed, we would still like to hear from you.
We, Hiringa Energy and Sundown Pastoral, acknowledge and pay respect to the Kamilaroi people and their elders, both past and present, as the traditional custodians of this land. We celebrate the diversity of Aboriginal peoples and their ongoing cultures and connections to the lands and waters of New South Wales.
