Technical Platform Manager - Platform Cost Optimization

We are seeking an experienced Technical Platform Manager to lead our platform cost optimization strategy across Data bricks and associated cloud data services. This role will be responsible for driving platform efficiency, governance, operational excellence, and sustainable cost management while enabling business growth and innovation.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Data bricks, cloud data platforms, FinOps practices, and platform engineering, with a proven track record of identifying, prioritizing, and delivering measurable optimization outcomes. This role will partner closely with engineering, architecture, operations, finance, business stakeholders, and external vendors to maximize platform value while maintaining performance, security, and scalability.Key ResponsibilitiesPlatform Cost OptimizationLead and own the platform cost optimization strategy across Data bricks and associated cloud services.Identify, prioritize, and deliver cost reduction opportunities across compute, storage, networking, serverless services, and data workloads.Establish optimization roadmaps, savings targets, KPIs, and governance frameworks to measure success.Monitor platform consumption trends and proactively recommend efficiency improvements.Technical LeadershipProvide leadership and direction to a team of platform and engineering specialists focused on performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.Drive adoption of engineering best practices for workload optimization, resource utilization, automation, and operational excellence.Review platform architecture and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.Stakeholder ManagementCollaborate with engineering, architecture, operations, finance, procurement, and business teams to align optimization initiatives with organizational priorities.Influence technical and business stakeholders through data-driven recommendations and business cases.Communicate optimization outcomes, savings achievements, and future opportunities to senior leadership.Governance & Operational ExcellenceEstablish and enforce governance policies for platform usage, provisioning, workload management, and resource consumption.Implement monitoring, reporting, and cost visibility frameworks to support informed decision-making.Drive platform standardization, automation, and operational maturity initiatives.Vendor & Platform ManagementEngage with cloud service providers, Databricks, and technology partners to leverage new capabilities and optimization opportunities.Evaluate emerging platform features and recommend adoption strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.Support commercial discussions, licensing optimization, and vendor management activities.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.8+ years of experience in cloud platforms, data engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure management.3+ years of experience leading platform optimization, FinOps, or cloud cost management initiatives.Strong hands-on experience with Databricks and modern cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, or GCP).Deep understanding of cloud cost management, governance frameworks, and performance optimization techniques.Experience leading cross-functional technical teams and enterprise-scale transformation initiatives.Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience implementing FinOps practices and cloud financial management frameworks.Databricks, Azure, AWS, or GCP certifications.Experience with monitoring, observability, and cost optimization tools.Knowledge of data platform architecture, analytics ecosystems, and data governance frameworks.Experience working with large-scale enterprise cloud migration or modernization programs.Key SkillsDatabricks Platform ManagementCloud Cost Optimization (FinOps)AWS / Azure / GCPData Platform EngineeringGovernance & CompliancePlatform Performance TuningInfrastructure & Resource OptimizationStakeholder ManagementVendor ManagementTeam LeadershipStrategic Planning & RoadmappingOperational ExcellenceSuccess MeasuresAchievement of platform cost reduction and optimization targets.Improved platform utilization and efficiency metrics.Increased governance compliance and operational maturity.Enhanced platform performance, scalability, and reliability.Successful delivery of optimization roadmap initiatives and measurable business value.
