Counsellor
Full-Time, Fixed-Term (24 months)
Make a meaningful difference by supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities through culturally safe, confidential and compassionate counselling.
About the role
The Counsellor provides culturally safe, confidential and evidence-based counselling within a Social and Emotional Wellbeing framework. You will support clients experiencing grief and loss, trauma, family violence, mental health concerns, substance use, relationship difficulties and significant life transitions.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, you will deliver holistic, client-centred care that recognises the importance of culture, family, community and connection to Country.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
A relevant tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or a related discipline.
Experience providing counselling to people experiencing complex social and emotional wellbeing concerns.
Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed practice.
An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and the social determinants of health.
The ability to develop respectful, culturally safe and therapeutic relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and case management skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Pre-employment Requirements
