Junior Product Designer

How would you like to design kids’ play equipment for a living?! 

PlayCo is Australia's largest playground and fitness equipment manufacturer, designing, manufacturing and installing playgrounds across the country.  

We're looking for a Junior Product Designer to join our Product Development team in Scoresby, Melbourne. You'll be creating products that bring people together, get kids moving and become part of the places where communities play. 

This is a role for someone who is creative, curious, positive and full of ideas — someone who enjoys conceptual thinking, exploring different possibilities and finding new ways to make products more engaging, functional and fun. 

You might be a recent or upcoming graduate with a strong portfolio looking for your first full-time role, or have 1–5 years' experience and be ready for your next challenge. We're looking for someone with creative energy, strong design thinking and the technical skills to bring their ideas to life. 

The role 

You'll work with our Product Development team to take ideas from early concepts through to detailed design and production. 

You'll be involved in: 

• Developing new playground product concepts 

• Sketching and exploring ideas 

• Creating and refining 3D CAD models 

• Developing manufacturing drawings and documentation 

• Exploring materials, manufacturing processes and product solutions 

• Supporting prototypes and testing 

• Working with engineering, production, installation and marketing teams 

• Improving existing products and finding smarter ways to design and manufacture them 

• Using AI and other emerging tools to explore ideas and enhance the design process 

Your ideas won't just live on a screen — they'll become real products that kids and communities use across Australia. 

About you 

We're looking for someone who: 

• Is naturally creative and enjoys thinking differently 

• Is curious, positive and brings a great energy to the team 

• Has a can-do attitude and enjoys learning 

• Can think big while still caring about the detail 

• Is interested in how products are made, not just how they look 

• Can take an idea from a sketch through to a 3D model 

• Enjoys working collaboratively and sharing ideas 

What you'll bring 

• A tertiary qualification in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline — or you're about to complete one 

• Experience with physical product development, through professional work, internships, university projects or similar 

• 3D CAD modelling skills — you need to be comfortable creating and working with 3D models. Autodesk Inventor experience is highly regarded 

• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite 

• Strong visual and creative thinking 

• Sketching and ideation skills are highly regarded
