Are you an experienced Board Director and registered health professional with a passion for strengthening health outcomes, clinical governance, and community impact?

Each is seeking a Non-Executive Board Director who can bring a strong clinical lens to Board discussions and governance. We are particularly interested in candidates who are currently practising health professionals, preferably Registered Nurses, with contemporary experience in aged care, community health, or healthcare service delivery. This expertise will support the Board's oversight of clinical governance, quality, safety, risk, and compliance obligations under evolving aged care and healthcare regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

As a Non-Executive Board Director, you will work alongside fellow Directors to:

• Set strategic direction to ensure services remain person-centred, accessible, connected, effective, and safe.
• Provide oversight of organisational performance, financial sustainability, and risk.
• Contribute a clinical governance perspective to Board discussions, supporting quality, safety, consumer outcomes, and continuous improvement.
• Champion inclusive, culturally safe, and psychologically safe environments for staff, clients, and communities.
• Participate in Board and Committee meetings, contributing expertise to robust and constructive discussions.
• Support best practice governance, quality, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
• Represent Each within the community through engagement opportunities and service visits.
• Participate in ongoing professional development, Board evaluation, and succession planning activities.

Who we’re looking for

We are seeking a Board Director who brings:

• Current clinical governance expertise – unrestricted AHPRA registration and current, relevant clinical practice experience, preferably as a Registered Nurse. Ability to bring contemporary expertise in clinical governance, quality, safety, consumer outcomes, and healthcare service delivery to Board discussions.
• Knowledge of aged care and healthcare standards, including quality, safety, accreditation, and contemporary regulatory frameworks.
• Integrity and accountability, with a demonstrated commitment to ethical and independent decision-making.
• Financial and governance literacy, with the ability to interpret reports and understand governance obligations.
• Commitment to inclusion, fostering equitable, culturally safe, and accessible environments.
• Curiosity, collaboration, and courage, with the confidence to question, challenge, and contribute constructively.
• Emotional intelligence, including empathy, strong communication skills, and respectful engagement.
• Commercial judgement and purpose-driven focus, balancing strategic decision-making with social impact.
• Capacity to commit approximately 8-10 hours per month, including bi-monthly Board meetings and an annual Board retreat.

Preferred experience & skills

We would particularly welcome candidates with experience in:

• Current or recent senior clinical leadership experience within aged care, community health, primary care, hospital, or healthcare service settings.
• Strong understanding of contemporary aged care reforms, clinical care standards, quality and safety obligations, and consumer-centred service delivery.
• Clinical governance, quality and safety oversight, accreditation, or healthcare regulation.
• Governance, risk management, and organisational assurance frameworks.
• Complex health, community services, or human services organisations.
• Stakeholder engagement, public policy, finance, legal, or business development.

Mandatory requirements:

• Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or other registered health professional.
• Current and relevant clinical practice experience, with the ability to provide informed oversight of clinical governance, quality, safety, and healthcare service delivery.
• Demonstrated understanding of clinical governance, healthcare quality and safety, and regulatory obligations, including aged care quality standards and reforms.
• Current and active membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) or equivalent, or willingness to complete relevant governance training.
• Ability to satisfy all relevant background checks, including Criminal History, Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening, Aged Care Banning Orders, and Responsible Persons requirements.
