About the role
Claims Assessor | Property & Insurance
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a customer-focused Claims Assessor to join a specialist property insurance team in Chatswood.
If you bring a background in insurance claims, property law, or conveyancing, this role offers a great opportunity to apply your knowledge in a varied, commercial environment. Instead of high-volume processing, you will manage a focused portfolio of non-standard property claims, working through unique cases with empathy and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
Manage an end-to-end portfolio of property-related claims, assessing details and making fair decisions.
Communicate effectively with customers, keeping them informed and supported through sensitive or complex situations.
Liaise with external professionals such as solicitors, surveyors, and consultants to gather information and interpret advice.
Manage basic claim financials, including tracking portfolio expenses and payments.
Collaborate with internal teams across legal, finance, and marketing.
What We’re Looking For
Relevant Experience: Background in general insurance claims, property law, or conveyancing.
Strong Communication: Great interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build rapport and handle difficult conversations with care.
Analytical Mindset: Comfortable reading property reports or legal advice and breaking them down practically.
Financial Aptitude: Able to track costs, manage basic claim budgets, and reconcile books.
Work Model & Benefits
Hybrid Work: 3 days in the Chatswood office (Wednesdays are team anchor days) and 2 days work-from-home.
Supportive Onboarding: Initial 4-week full-time in-office period to work closely with the Claims Manager, get up to speed, and integrate with the team.
