About the role
ISN Psychology is growing, and we are seeking an accomplished Clinical Psychologist Academic to help shape the future of psychology education, clinical training and scholarship at ISN.
This senior appointment is suited to an established academic with expertise in clinical psychology and a strong record of academic leadership, higher education teaching, clinical training, research, scholarship or professional engagement.
The successful candidate will be appointed as Associate Professor (Academic Level D) or Professor (Academic Level E), depending on their qualifications, academic and professional standing, leadership experience and demonstrated achievements.
ISN Psychology is a TEQSA-registered and APAC-accredited psychology education provider with a strong focus on professional practice, student capability, ethical judgement, research-informed teaching and innovation in psychology education.

Depending on your expertise and appointment, you will have the opportunity to:
Provide academic leadership across psychology education and training.
Help shape postgraduate programs, curriculum and models of professional preparation.
Educate, mentor and supervise future psychologists.
Lead improvements in teaching quality, assessment, student experience and academic self-assurance.
Develop research, scholarship, clinical education or professional practice initiatives.
Contribute to applied research, psychological assessment, simulation, clinical neuroscience, neuropsychology, neurofeedback, responsible AI, translational mental health or the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Responsibilities may include:
Providing strategic academic leadership in clinical psychology education, training and professional practice.
Teaching and coordinating postgraduate psychology units or courses.
Leading curriculum design, review and innovation.
Strengthening assessment quality, moderation, assurance of learning and academic standards.
Contributing to course leadership, accreditation, academic governance and continuous quality improvement.
Supervising honours, masters, doctoral and higher degree research students, where appropriate.
Providing leadership in clinical education, professional competencies, placements and supervision.
Supporting students’ development of professional capability, ethical judgement and readiness for practice.
Establishing and maintaining an influential research, scholarship or professional practice agenda.
Developing productive research, clinical and professional partnerships.
Mentoring academic staff and supporting the development of academic capability.
Contributing to culturally responsive practice, meaningful First Nations engagement, equity, inclusion and high standards of professional psychology education.
Representing ISN within relevant academic, clinical and professional networks.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
Current registration as a psychologist with the Ahpra.
PsyBA Board Approved Supervisor status
Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist.
Relevant postgraduate qualifications in clinical psychology.
A doctoral qualification in psychology or a related discipline, or an equivalent record of significant academic and professional achievement.
Demonstrated experience in higher education teaching, clinical training, research supervision, academic leadership or professional psychology education.
A research, scholarship or professional practice profile appropriate to Academic Level D or E.
Demonstrated capacity to lead high-quality curriculum, assessment, student learning and academic quality improvement.
Evidence of academic, clinical or professional leadership appropriate to the level of appointment.
Commitment to ethical practice, professional psychology standards, cultural responsiveness, equity and inclusion.
Highly desirable:
Experience teaching, supervising or leading within APAC-accredited psychology programs.
Experience in course leadership, accreditation, academic governance or curriculum development.
Experience supervising honours, masters, doctoral or higher degree research students.
Experience mentoring academics and developing teaching, research or supervision capability.
Experience in online, blended, simulation-based or practice-based learning.
A record of developing research, clinical, industry or professional partnerships.
We are particularly interested in Clinical Psychologists with expertise in clinical psychology education, psychological assessment, wellbeing, clinical, AI-enabled learning, translational mental health or the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Location and employmentAppointments may be based in Melbourne or Sydney depending on teaching allocation, operational requirements and the successful candidate’s circumstances.
Classification: Academic Level D or Academic Level E under the Higher Education Industry - Academic Staff - Award 2020, subject to final classification and contractual arrangements.
Appointment is subject to satisfactory working rights, Working with Children Check and National Police Record Check.
