Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented General Accountant to manage our day-to-day financial operations. In this role, you will be the backbone of our finance function—taking full ownership of end-to-end Australian payroll, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and general ledger reconciliations using Xero.

ResponsibilitiesExecute end-to-end employee payroll via Xero in accordance with Fair Work Awards, NES, and employee contracts. Oversee Single Touch Payroll (STP Phase 2) lodgments, superannuation clearing (Xero Auto Super), and state Payroll Tax compliance. Manage, track, and reconcile global freelancer payouts originating through Upwork.Manage vendor bills, purchase orders, approval workflows, and ABA payment files. Issue customer tax invoices, perform daily bank feed allocations, monitor debtor aging, and execute credit control.Conduct daily bank reconciliations and monthly balance sheet account reconciliations in Xero. Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Income Activity Statements (IAS) accurately and on schedule.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. CA or CPA qualification preferred (or actively pursuing full membership).Advanced proficiency in Xero (Xero Payroll, Auto Super, Invoicing) and experience managing contractor/freelancer disbursements on Upwork.Strong understanding of Australian GST, Fair Work Awards, Superannuation Guarantee, and STP Phase 2.High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
