Arts and Events Support Officer

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re seeking enthusiastic Arts and Culture Support Officers (Casual) to deliver exceptional customer service at Council’s key arts facilities, including Granville Centre Art Gallery, Peacock Gallery at Auburn Botanic Gardens, and other Council facilities and spaces. In this role, you’ll help activate our cultural spaces by supporting exhibitions, workshops, and community programs that provide access to creativity, arts and culture for people who live, work, play and study in Cumberland.

This opportunity is advertised internally and may suit existing Council employees looking to supplement their current employment with light additional hours and gain new experiences. The role is serviced by a pool of casual employees on a rotating roster, and availability across weekdays, evenings, and weekends is preferable.

The successful applicant will require:

• Experience in art gallery or similar customer service environment.
• Strong computer skills including intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, basic skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft outlook. Possess Intermediate word processing abilities and ability to competently utilise online applications
• Well-developed literacy, numeracy and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team, work autonomously with minimal supervision, independently and with high levels of initiative
• Experience in using computers and the internet in a professional environment
• Working with Children Check clearance.

About this role: 

• Casual position
• Located primarily at Council’s arts venues Granville Centre Art Gallery and Peacock Gallery precinct, and may also work at other Council work sites as required. 

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

• Grade 8 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with an hourly rate of $40.90, plus 12% superannuation
• 25% casual loading

What you'll need to have for this role:

• The right to live and work in Australia
• Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
• Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required.
