Senior AI Software Engineer

Our med- tech client is building out its next generation of AI powered engineering capability. They're after someone who can move fluently between agentic AI systems and the infrastructure that supports them.

What you'll be doing
You'll design and build multi-agent systems, working with LLM fundamentals, agent design patterns, and the MCP protocol for tool use and resource discovery. On the integration side, you'll design and build APIs, work with enterprise auth and own the platform underneath it all, compute, containers (EKS), networking, and infrastructure as code via Terraform, with security engineering front of mind.

What you'll bring

• Hands-on experience with LLMs, agent design patterns, and prompt engineering
• Experience building or working with the MCP protocol
• Strong API design and enterprise integration experience
• Platform engineering chops: EC2/EKS, Terraform, security-by-design
• Backend development in Java, plus frontend experience (React/TypeScript)

This is a contract role for someone who wants to be hands-on building real agentic systems. This is an initial 6 month contract with opportunity for extension. Must be based in Sydney with PR or citizenship - hybrid role onsite.
