About the role
We are seeking passionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers and Supervisors to join Apex Lifestyle Pty Ltd, a leading provider of community services and support for individuals with disabilities. This is a casual position based in the Armadale area offering flexibility to work on an as-needed basis.
In this role, you will be instrumental in enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities by providing compassionate, person-centred support. Whether working as a Disability Support Worker or stepping into a supervisory capacity, you will help clients achieve their goals, maintain independence, and participate meaningfully in their communities. This position carries significant importance in our mission to deliver exceptional care and support services.
What you'll be doing
As a Disability Support Worker, your key responsibilities will include:
Providing personalised support to individuals with disabilities in accordance with their support plans and individual goals
Assisting clients with daily living activities including personal care, meal preparation, and household management
Supporting clients to access community activities, employment opportunities, and social engagement
Promoting client independence, dignity, and choice in all support interactions
Building positive relationships and maintaining open communication with clients and their families or carers
Recording and reporting on client progress, incidents, and support provided
Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to privacy and safeguarding protocols
Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment
As a Disability Support Supervisor, additional responsibilities will include:
Overseeing and coordinating the work of Disability Support Workers
Providing mentoring, guidance, and performance feedback to support staff
Ensuring compliance with organisational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Managing rosters and ensuring adequate staffing levels
Assisting with training and development of support workers
Addressing and resolving workplace issues and concerns
Liaising with clients, families, and other stakeholders on service delivery matters
What we're looking for
Essential skills, qualifications, and experience include:
Certificate III in Disability, Aged Care Support, or equivalent qualification (or willingness to obtain)
Working with Children Check (WWC) and National Police Clearance
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Demonstrated experience in disability support, aged care, or community services
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues
Compassion, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities
Physical capability to perform support duties safely
Reliability and commitment to maintaining professional standards
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Problem-solving skills and the ability to respond calmly to challenging situations
Preferred experience includes:
Certificate IV in Disability Support or further qualifications in health and social care
Previous supervisory or leadership experience (for Supervisor role)
Experience supporting individuals with complex needs or multiple disabilities
Knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
Experience in person-centred planning and support coordination
